Outlook offers three options for displaying the window’s reading pane in Contacts view: As a result, there is almost an infinite number of ways to display the contacts list in Outlook. You can set each of these options independently, with a wide range of variables. The columns displayed in the contacts list. The sort order of the contacts in the list. The appearance and position of the reading pane. The appearance of the contacts list depends on several factors: If you are adding a new email contact, enter the information for the person in the Add New Member dialog box. On the Contact Group tab, in the Members group, click Add Members, and then click From Outlook Contacts, From Address Book or New E-mail Contact. (These are the same contact records found in the Chapter09 practice files folder if you have already copied them, do not copy them again.) A complete list of practice files is provided in “Using the Practice Files” at the beginning of this book. In the Name box, type a name for the Contact Group. If you have not created your own contact records, you can copy the ones in the Chapter10 practice files folder. Select the Mail icon, and then select New Email. You can add more email addresses, or even a contact list. Select + Add to add someone to the contact list, and type their name. Select the People icon, and then select New Contact List. Before you can complete the exercises in this chapter, you need to have at least six contact records set up in Outlook. In Outlook for Mac, you can create a contact list to let you and others email everyone on the list without having to type each person's email address.
